Before you start

Trimming removes footage from the start or end of a clip: the slow lead-in before the action, or the moment after it is over. It is the most common edit in short-form video, because the first second decides whether someone keeps watching.

Trimming in Creovia Creator never changes the original video in your Gallery. The editor only remembers where the clip now starts and ends, so you can drag a handle back out later and the footage returns.

  1. Step 1

    Start a blank 9:16 project

Choose a video from Gallery and add it to a blank project. Select the clip on the timeline so its trim handles appear.

  2. Step 2

    Trim the beginning

Drag the left handle inward until the first frame is where you want the video to begin. Trimming hides the unwanted opening without creating a separate clip.

  3. Step 3

    Trim the ending

Move to the end of the clip and drag the right handle inward to remove the extra footage after your chosen finish.

  4. Step 4

    Preview both cut points

Play the trimmed clip from beginning to end. Check that the opening starts cleanly and the final action is not cut off.

  5. Step 5

    Export to Gallery

Open Export, save the video, and watch the finished result in Gallery. Use Split and Delete instead when the unwanted section is in the middle of a clip.

Quick answers

How do I trim the start and end of a video?
Select the clip, drag its left timeline handle inward to change the start, then drag the right handle inward to change the end.
Can trimming remove a section in the middle?
Use Split at the start and end of the unwanted section, then Delete that separate piece. The split and delete guide shows those steps.
Can I get trimmed footage back?
Yes. Select the clip and drag the handle back out. Trimming only hides footage inside the project; your original file is not changed. Undo also reverses the last edit.
Is it free?
Yes. Trimming, splitting and exporting in up to 1080p are free. Free video exports carry a small Creovia watermark, which Creovia Creator Pro removes.
Does Creovia Creator work on iPhone?
Creovia Creator is on Google Play for Android 7.0 and later. The iPhone app is in development.
